Science and Technology Licence Plates

In a show of solidarity, it would be awesome if all of the rest of you went out and got an Idaho Science and Technology License Plate. The Pronetos guys all have them (and I’ve never seen another in the wild . . . how come?). Makes for a good conversation piece (i.e., excuse to [...]

Dyno-might

If you recently attended the Kickstart event, held at Boise State a few weeks ago, you had the opportunity to meet one of Idaho’s most fascinating entrepreneurs / inventors / technologists / toymaker / mimes. Caleb Chung, inventor of the Furby, isn’t a mime anymore (at least not professionally) but he is in [...]

Let’s Talk Tech

There’s been a lot of conversation here about the power of networking. Norris is setting up some after hours get meet ups next month and I wanted to propose a brown bag lunch next week. May 24th, I don’t know where yet. In true entrepreneurial spirit we’ll figure out a location later [...]

“Thirdspace”?Ǭù is not a Babylon 5 movie!

Think of the old “general store” - a “thirdspace” isn’t home, it isn’t work, but it IS a place for people to meet, whether intentionally or accidentally. A place where ideas tend to surface. Why do you think so many different kinds of people go to Dawson-Taylor? (or the Interlude before that?)
What makes thriving [...]

Hot Places for Entrepreneurs

Inc Magazine is out with their 2007 list of Boomtowns. Texas leads the pack, due in part to in-migration, escalating energy prices and a tech sector that has regained its footing. The telling indicator is job growth (the best measure of economic vitality, in their expert opinion). The Top 10 boomtowns for [...]

Network to Fuel Innovation

As a life-long Idaho resident and a 10-year Boise resident, I’ve seen a lot of changes in our state. One change that has been apparent is our growth in the technology sector, especially here in Southwestern Idaho.
However, I’ve seen very little change in how some people choose to share their ideas. [...]

MSNBC STory on Boise Tech

In case you haven’t seen it yet: http://tinyurl.com/375cr6 MSNBC ran their story on Boise being the next big thing in tech. The web clip ran about 3 minutes, I don’t know if that was the whole thing or not but I think it was a good story. What did you think?

Downtown Interactions

Many of you may have read reports that Mark Rivers, the developer of Bodo, has stated that he wants to start a technology incubator in the Downtown Boise area. This is something that I feel is greatly needed. Not that Idaho needs another incubator, but that local entrepreneurs need a place to work [...]

10 Questions for Local Tech CEO’s

One of the things I would like to do hear is interview all of the valley tech CEO’s. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to personally meet with all of them. So let me ask you, dear reader, if you could ask any question to a local tech CEO, large or small, what [...]
