Tim Mitchell over at HP alerted me to an article by Ken Dey I missed about Indian companies that are starting to outsource there outsourced work back to the states. One possible target is Idaho.

Startup Speed Dating

Startup speed dating is one of the more popular events for Kickstand. If you want real world experience and feedback pitching your startup idea to real investors read on.

Twice a year we sponsor an event we've named Start-up Speed Dating as part of our mission:

"To support innovators in any industry who would like to benefit from the experience, contacts and successes of other entrepreneurs."

Tech Startup Update

I'll have more detail on these three companies in the weeks to come but I thought I would give them all a quick shout out.

Pronetos - Pronetos is a home to communities and scholars of every academic discipline: a global think-tank of the leaders in your field. They have come out of closed beta and are ready to take the academic world by storm.

iQuestions - Safe and trusted video answers. They have also shed their beta label.

Studies of Nobel Prize teams

always show that either the initial collaboration among the key team members happens over coffee, tea or some other adult beverage... and/or that's where the seminal idea arose. IOW, informal social interaction is critical to growing innovation.

Or.... iow, I'm overdue to harass you folks into an after-work coffee conclave! Yeah, yeah, you want to go to these but you're just too busy. OK, but kiss that Nobel Prize goodbye!

Or worse, you'll miss out on an IG Nobel Prize! LOL (Go to www.improb.com NOW, do not waste a second...

Flight of the Ern? Kickstand, October 11

Well, not the "ern" that's occasionally an entry in crossword puzzles, but ERN as in Entrepreneur Resource Network, a new wrinkle from the good folks at Kickstand.

The ERN is a place for Kickstand members (and others) to share ideas and, more

TechIdaho, Ken Dey Gets His Way

One point I've tried to make clear is that this is not a 'news' site. Boise has many talented reporters that do a much better job than I could. One such reporter is Ken Dey. It was obvious when I first met Ken that he was passionate about Tech.

I've known for a while that Ken has been pushing to get his own blog over at the Statesman (I even offered to let him blog here). Ken is now officially a blogger.

how to change the world, part 2

Predicting an entrepreneurial community?

Syracuse economist Arthur Brooks is not the most politically correct guy out there - he likes grabbing that "third rail", LOL.

However, his latest work has some amazing results. No matter how you massage the data, you conclude that charitable giving appears to be a driver of.... income. And it has a lot to do with how entrepreneurial a community or person is.

Author Dave Bornstein sends his regards - maybe the best-known spokesperson for social entrepreneurship globally, Dave's message contains several elements that resonate for Idaho & how we want to change our little corner of the world.
