Boise Code Camp and Tech Fest... it's not just for programmers!

You may know about the free, community-powered "Code Camp" event coming next month, March 28th at Boise State University. In 2008 Boise Code Camp was one of the largest such events in the west, attracting over 400.

What you may not know: the event moves in a new direction in 2009. This year some sessions are categorized "Tech Fest", and are not just for developers, developers, developers:

Tech Fest is about kaizen (continual improvement) in the software business and IT.

We have an exciting event planned for you this Wednesday.

To start things off we will see the unveiling of a brand new startup.
"Dave Abajian is currently the CEO of Adrenity Media Networks, Inc., a startup company based in Boise, Idaho. Adrenity is building a new, IP-based media network that delivers music and messaging to retailers and other businesses. Adrenity is currently finishing its third party testing and has signed a major customer for its services."

Stop looking for a job

It's my opinion that you would be better off if you spent as much energy creating a business plan as you spend updating your resume. You would have a better chance of creating a steady income stream if you met with people about your start-up idea than spent meeting people about finding a job.

I know entrepreneurialism is scary for many of you. It doesn't come natural to most of us. Not everyone sits around dreaming up business ideas (some of us can't stop). If you are currently looking for work consider your unemployment check as seed capital to your start-up.  

First: read this post in it's entirety.
Second: write down 5 rough ideas in a notebook.
