The week that was

If you're like TechBoise, you are happy that its Friday and the week is coming to a close. You also may be sorting through emails, the piles and files on desks and desktops trying to remember where you were at on your projects.

This is not because you are lazy or slow, but because you

(a) enjoyed a 3 day weekend before
(b) attended TechLaunch Wednesday
(c) attended IdaVation Thursday
(d) all of the above

The correct answer is (d), all of the above. What a week!

WaterCooler: This Space For Rent

The WaterCooler has 2 office suites available as well as a watercube for those of you in the Treasure Valley looking for office space in the downtown area. For details, contact Shelley(at)@brixusa.com.

TechLaunch 6.0 Winners

For those of you that were not able to join us at TechBoise last night, you missed a great opportunity to hear from companies that pitched to the muder board at TechLaunch 6.0.

The winner of the Next Gen event was from Washington State University, EcoWell:

Who Has Time For Vacation?

While today unofficially kicks off the summer season, TechBoise wants you to know that if you are not one of the lucky ones getting away anytime soon, there are plenty of tech events to keep you occupied.

Tonight is the inauguration of the Boise Beer and Blog at The Front Door at 5:00pm.

Beer & Blog Boise

TechBoise is proud to announce the first Beer and Blog Boise .

What is Boise Beer and Blog you ask? According to the organizer, Wyatt Werner 'it's bloggers helping bloggers over beer'. This blogger will be there looking for someone to learn her in the ways of drupal.

Beer and Blog Boise will happen every Friday at The Front Door from 5 - 6:30 pm.

If you aren't leaving town for Memorial Day and are looking for a way to kick off the long weekend, stop by. If you know drupal, please come find me.

TechBoise & TechLaunch Wednesday May 27th

The next TechBoise event will be Wednesday, May 27th at the usual time and place (5:30 - 7pm at the WaterCooler). We will be joined by the participants from TechLaunch, fresh from their 'grilling' by the 'murder board' of VCs, angels, entrepreneurs and others. Join us and find out how they did, who won, tips and tricks for starting your own venture. More importantly, we'll all celebrate their successes.

Science Cafe - May 20th 6 pm

The folks at ESTech are offering Science Cafe Thursday, May 20th at 6:00 pm at Eagle City Hall.

Join Lew Payne and discover how computer viruses have remained prolific.

RSVP to estechsciencecafe(at)gmail.com

TechBoise goes back to its Roots

The minds that are now TechBoise have just met to discuss the strategic (or non-strategic, as it may be) direction of TechBoise and all agree: We're bringing TechBoise back to its roots.

Geeks
Pizza
Tech Businesses
Beer
5-Minute Presentations w/ Q&A
Unreasonable Requests
Sponsors (to keep the beer & pizza free)
Geeks

As a TechBoise participant, is there anything you would like to see in our events or on our blog? Let us know. We're fast, flexible, and open to all new ideas as long as they don't suck. Let us know if you want to help, too.

Its May, Time for Graduation

Congratulations to Banshee Bungee and Valitics!

TechBoise learned late Friday that these 2 companies have graduated from the BSU TECenter.

The Valitics crew can now be found in the Eagles Building, 223 N 6th, Suite 240 in Boise (above Java). Stop by and check out their new digs. I'm sure they'd love to chat.

We are checking on the new location for Banshee.

TechBoise wants to hear from you

Over the past week, several of Boise's start-ups have been featured in the media. Perhaps you saw the New York Times article with Pete Gombert and the crew at Balihoo? Innovus Solar was also highlighted in the article that used Boise as a bellwether for the economy rebounding, reviving or at least stopping to recess. It was even picked up by the Idaho Statesman.

Ignite 2 Submissions Are Pouring In

TechBoise has learned that Ignite Boise 2, set for July 16th at the Egyptian Theater, has close to 20 submissions. WOW!

For more information on what to/not to present as well as to submit your topic
go to Ignite Boise

Do you have yours in? The deadline is June 5th at 5pm. Only 16 are selected for the night of the event.

Let's make the esteemed panel of judges really work.

TechBoise is Alive

Never fear, Boise tech community....

TechBoise is alive and well and living on, despite Tac's departure for the greener, perhaps techier pastures of Seattle. We've taken a few weeks to collect ourselves and dry our tears at his departure and are back in the swing of things.

Just a few things to wet your techie appetite:

Kickstand - May 14th, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the WaterCooler - expect to be surprised

TechLaunch - May 27th, 8:00 - 4:30 pm at the Doubletree Riverside
