TechBoise Recap - 1st Startup Toolkit - SUCCESS

or so we at TechBoise would like to think. If you were not able to attend, don't worry - this is the first of many Startup Toolkits. A big thanks to Red Sky PRfor sponsoring! If you are interested in being a sponsor, please let us know.

We had a great turnout from service providers and TechBoise heard from many that they had a great time meeting with attendees. Speaking of attendees, there were about 75 people in attendance - so no leftovers!

Startup Toolkit at TechBoise - this Wednesday

TechBoise came across a great quote by Sergey Brin, Co-founder of Google that makes our Startup Toolkit event this Wednesday even more important:

"I know it's kind of a romantic notion that you're just going to have this one brilliant idea and then everything is going to be great. But the fact is that coming up with an idea is the least important part of creating something great."

TechBoise can't come up with an idea for you.

Are you getting prepared to be unreasonable?

Don't forget that we will again be doing "unreasonable requests" at the next TechBoise. Have you come up with one yet? Bring it with you.

"Unreasonable request" was defined in this previous Tech Boise post: http://techboise.com/make-an-unreasonable-request-at-techboise-tonight.

Ignite Boise 2 Tickets Gone

600 tickets gone in 2 1/2 hours! Wahoo! Did you get yours? TechBoise has heard rumors that they will stream the event. As soon as we hear more, we'll let you know.

In the meantime, if you are looking for tickets, you could try sweet talking one of the Sponsors

At this rate, tickets won't last - Ignite Boise 2 tickets available today!

TechBoise urges you to get your tickets to Ignite Boise 2 today. The tickets were made available this morning at 9:00 am. The first 100 were gone in a minute! That's right, folks - 60 seconds.

Update: the first 300 tickets were gone in 30 minutes. TechBoise will let you do the math. Better not delay getting your tickets any longer.....

Get yours at Ignite Boise.

We'll see you at the Egyptian Theater on July 16th.

Girls in Tech Launched

Sorry, you missed it!

Boise's inaugural Girls in Tech event had 17 tech girls in attendance - 12 more than the inaugural event in LA. That's right - for all you math haters out there - little old Boise showed up the big LA. Boise should be even more proud, since we learned last night that the Founder of Girls in Tech wasn't sure that there was tech in Boise - let alone girls in tech. So there.

Update: Unreasonable Request - Marketer Needed

Local gun company seeking full-time marketer. For details, contact todd(a)primaryweapons.com.

Todd is helping the local company find the right marketer; the job is not with Primary Weapons. If you are interested, please send your resume to todd(a)primaryweapons.com.

Calling all girls

Thursday Boise launches it's chapter of Girls in Tech. TechBoise is excited for this inaugural event as other chapters have joined in on the Geeks on a Plane tour that took in parts of Asia. What a way to network!

More information and RSVP here.

We hope to see you at 7:00pm at the WaterCooler.

Start-up Toolkit - Next TechBoise Event

You spoke and TechBoise listened.

Next Wednesday - June 24th - come to TechBoise prepared to start a business!

We plan to fill the WaterCooler's Idea Studio with the people that can help you get your idea off the ground - a business plan, marketing plan, help with sales, figuring out how to value your company, find or access money - be it the 3Fs (friends, family, fools), angels, VCs, IP or legal issues - you name it, we'll have someone on hand to help you.

Ready, Set, Go at Ignite Boise 2 with your Rubberband Dragster

Calling all you inventors, creators, designers and lovers of dragsters - come prepared to create and race your rubberband dragster on July 16th and Ignite Boise 2.

Not familiar with the concept? Check it out.

Ryan DeLuca is the Ernst & Young Regional Entrepreneur of 2009

Congratulations to Ryan DeLuca, CEO of Bodybuilding.com. He was announced as the Ernst & Young Regional Entrepreneur of the Year for 2009 in the e-commerce category.

Up next is the national awards gala, set for November 14th in Palm Srings. Ryan is eligible for consideration in the national program. TechBoise is keeping its fingers crossed. Good luck, Ryan!

Ignite 2 Presenters Announced

Congratulations, Boise! You made the judges earn their pay for Ignite Boise 2. Ok, they aren't really paid. From 50 submissions, they have made their selections. Its an eclectic list of topics and presenters.

These 16 lucky souls will present July 16th at the Egyptian Theater. TechBoise was told that tickets would be available starting Monday. Check your Twitter feed for details on the ticket release.

Idaho Innovation Council Wants To Hear From You

If you have any experience with tech transfer the Idaho Innovation Council wants to hear from you. They have issued a call for anyone with perceptions, opinions and experience regarding the transfer of technology and its current state.

The Council views this input as vital to their efforts. If you have something to share, please contact Jefferson Jewell at jjewell(a)blackfin.com.

Recycling Your Surplus Tech

Holli previously mentioned that TechBoise is going to "go back to its roots."

While brainstorming how we could accomplish that, someone came up with the idea of having a "Surplus" table in the back of the room at the next TechBoise meeting.

Concept: Bring your unwanted/unneeded technology, computer parts, software, business books, etc., and donate them to the Surplus table. If you see something on the Surplus table you could really use...take it. Geeks helping geeks.

Unreasonable Requests

As Promised, I will be posting Unreasonable Requests each month on the blog. These are requests that are written at TechBoise meetings with the intention of hooking up your tech brothers and sisters. Take a look and see where you can help out! (Not all are neccesarily unreasonable, but all are posted as written)
