Boise Online Social Networkers
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I have been a long time advocate of Social Media. This isn’t a post trying to convince you about the power of Social Media.
Connecting the Connectors
One of the major reasons I started TechBoise was to connect people together. Get the geeks, the business people and the n00bs all mingling together. It’s the best way I know how to help make things happen.
One area that I have personally seen real value is in connecting with local people. For almost 2 years Twitter has been a tool that I’ve used to stay connected with my social media friends around the globe but lately it has taken on a whole new flavor for me.
Fellow Boise Tweeple (Twitter+People) have been joining at a very fast rate. It’s been very interesting to watch my Twitter conversations change. But the real changes are happening offline.
We organize impromptu lunches that bring in 20 or so people, half of whom I’ve never met. (and that’s saying something). Other than this blog it’s THE way I organize and publicize our TechBoise events. I’ve also been able to connect so many more people with people I’ve met on Twitter.
Twitter’s not for everyone. If the concept of hyper-connectivity makes you shudder then just chalk this up to idle curiosity.
If you’re on Twitter check to make sure I have you on this list. If you’re not on the list leave your username in the comments (I’m sure I don’t have everyone).
If you’re interested in what Twitter has to offer then sign up and join the conversation.
Here’s the 62 local people that I currently know about.

If you’re not on this list either I don’t know about you or you probably haven’t posted recently enough to show up in Tweetdeck (I highly recommend using Tweetdeck to organize your Twitter conversations.)

As soon as Twitter lets me follow people again, I’m jumping on this. Thanks so much for putting this together!

Tac - as one of the old geezers who are skeptical of the value of being hyper-connected (and maybe a bit fearful, LOL) - maybe a great service you might offer is an hour primer on Twitter, etc.
Questions like:
I see the value, but why on earth do I want to spend even more time online?
Why on earth would I want to know what all my friends are doing, where they are currently standing/sitting?
and…
Being surrounded by the Crackberry set, will I get addicted to it?** (LOL)
** and is that a bad thing? LOL
TIA,
NK
Thanks everyone for adding to the list I’ll update it in a few days with all the new Tweeple.
Norris,
I don’t really want to convince anyone to use Twitter. As to your other questions:
You don’t.
You don’t.
Yes.
Yes.
You might want to sign up the list on Twitterpacks as well; world-wide listings of Twitter users so they can be searched by location:

Hannah, thanks. I didn’t want to add people to that list for them but it is a good list if people want to add themselves.

What’s the easiest way for me to start following all the Boise Tweeple on Twitter??? Sorry, new to Twitter and don’t want to waste a lot of time trying to figure it out on my own…
click on each of the names in the blog, they are each linked to their profile and as long as you’re logged in you can follow them from there. Yes you’ll have to click each one.

Thanks, Tac.
I was a big skeptic of Twitter in the beginning (all of 7 months ago) & asked why use Twitter? It’s just a big IM devise to tell people…”nothing”.
Then I got the Twitter bug & saw more & more possibilities. I hardly open my Reader anymore…I get all the good stuff directly from the people I follow who I know will send out good content. (now I still don’t get B-Kite unless we get an actual picture & not a google map…but we will see).
I started an @mpccomputers twitter a few weeks ago & have rcvd great feedback from a few followers saying how great it is that we are listening & engaging & just not sitting on the @ so no one will take it.
Great posibilities for business to start putting an @twitter face to their business, is nothing but a good practice of being involved with the potential, current & future customers.
sorry for the book, back to work, twitter, no work…after I check all twitters.
