Get your creative juices flowing

Calling all inventors! The inaugural meeting of the inventors' society, Creative Juices, will be held this Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 pm.

Creative Juices fills the gap for lay inventors and small businesses, providing a peer group to bounce ideas in/off of and gather feedback in a safe environment. Group members will be asked to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

Meetings will be held the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

October 28 event - Tech Ed - Highlighting technology education in the Treasure Valley

On October 28 at 5:30pm, please join us at The WaterCooler as we bring together several Treasure Valley organizations who lead the cause of math, science and technology in education: Cheryl Deitchler, Work Based Learning Coordinator for Meridian Technical Charter High School, Woody Sobey, Director of Education at Discovery Center of Idaho and Marilyn Whitney with Idaho National Lab.

Girls in Tech - Life Coaching Workshop Sept 9

Ok Girls!

Get ready to start the Fall off on the right path. Girls in Tech Boise invites you to Life Coaching with a Queen (because achievement does not have to be a royal pain).

Join your fellow Girls in Tech and certified Life Coach and Mrs. Western Idaho International 2010 Lorene Rasmussen for an evening of guidance and encouragement to seek your own gracious design for your life.

The event is free with a $3 donation at the door. Proceeds go to the Treasure Valley Family Justice Centers.

Governor's Business Summit - Monday, August 31st

TechBoise cordially invites everyone to join us at the Governor's Business Summit on Monday, August 31st, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at the Boise Centre. The second summit, focused on innovation, will take place September 24th at the Stueckle Sky Box on BSU Campus (details forthcoming).

Basics of Federal Grant Workshop

If you are interested in learning more about the federal grant process, specifically the SBIR/STTR programs, the Idaho Department of Commerce will be holding a workshop September 9th.

The workshop will cover the basics of federal grants, including what they are, who they are for and if they are right for your business. You'll also learn how to search for topics to help your business grow and succeed.

Geek Guide to Boise?

Seattle has done it again. Just when you think there is not another cool way to celebrate and embrace all things geek, Seattle comes out and announces the creation of The Geek's Guide to Seattle.

Its brilliant! Geeks are people too - they realized that there is more to be seen in the Emerald City than the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. There's a whole lot of technology stuff there - and they're celebrating it.

Idea Market Question: If you were to create a class on everything an entrepreneur needs to know, what topics would be on the course outline? For those topics who would you suggest be your (local) faculty?

Camp Invention Offers Free Scholarship to Local Student

Here’s a great opportunity to round out the summer for your creative, curious, elementary student. Camp Invention is offering one free scholarship to the last summer camp of the season. The week long day camp will be held July 27 – 31, M-F from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Lake Hazel Elementary School (11711 Lake Hazel Road, Boise). Camp Invention partners with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation to bring quality enrichment in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math to elementary students.
