Help out a high school entrepreneur
For those of you not familiar with LaunchIdaho it’s basically an entrepreneurial boot camp for high school students. I had a chance to speak at their Idaho Business Week a few years ago and I was really impressed with the program.
Last year they started Billionaire Boot Camps around the state to support the summer programs they already did. It seems like they are in a budget crunch this year and are in need of donations. If you or your company is interested in helping out you can contact Vickie Horn (vickieh@iaci.org) directly.
Norris forwarded me this email from Tim Olson at Regency BlueShield explaining the need in more detail.
URGENT REQUEST
Idaho Business Week Needs Your Financial Help Immediately!
For 30 years the Idaho Association of Commerce & Industry, individuals, and businesses throughout the state of Idaho have been offering a continually updated, week-long summer program.
This year we are in a financial bind and need to know if we can count on your support for three regional Idaho Business Week camps. These camps will cost us approximately $110,000. April 1st is our deadline to assess the future of Idaho’s only experiential youth business camp. Don’t let this valuable program close its doors! If you have any questions, please contact us.
The Idaho Foundation of Private Enterprise & Economic Education (IFPEEE) Board members have taken on the task of contacting 180 Businesses throughout the state of Idaho asking for $650 donations. My company, Regence BlueShield has committed $1,000.
We realize everyone has varying amounts of resources but if we all pitch in together we can keep this valuable tool for Idaho students. Check out the www.bizkids.biz website to realize how important our mission is to Idaho’s future.
Please make your pledge below and make sure it arrives prior to April 1st:

p.s. Forty-three percent of the students who attended last summer have asked to come back as volunteers this year.
Thanks, Tac - this is a great model (true problem-based learning) that is great fun as well.
As other youth entrepreneurship projects are advancing, it would be a shame to see this one fade. In fact, they have the opportunity to do this in three places in Idaho.
And Vickie is great (if it’s not too scary, she is even more passionate than I am!)
Even if you can’t spring for any cash, send Vickie a note to cheer them on.
And…. if any of YOU are alumni of IBW (or similar program), chime in!
Thanks, everyone!
