Oh sure, rub it in.
Bull must have got him before he finished the post.
That’s weird - the bulk of the letter disappeared… let me re-try!
Hola a Madrid!
I’m just left the Babson entrepreneurship research conference in Madrid: The best & brightest scholarly experts on entrepreneurship in the world. (And if this blog gets some hits from Europe, it’s from people I’ve told about TechBoise.com.) I’m talking about applying neuroscience to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking -which turns out to be VERY practical!
Yeah, I know, a bunch of flippin’ eggheads - what could they possibly have to say to real entrepreneurs?
For one, we’ve done better than any other business discipline at understanding how learn and how we can help students & community members to think more like expert entrepreneurial thinkers. I am pleased to note that the best research continues to be done by those who have actual experience!
I couldn’t be a great researcher if I’d never been an entrepreneur, any more than I couldn’t be a great teacher without that experience. Being in the line of fire is probably the only way to subdue the insane narcissism we see in Academe, LOL. And, lo & behold! We’ve got increasing evidence that academics who think they somehow know better than entrepreneurs.. almost never do. Neuroscience is amazing stuff, btw!
Anyway, I thought I might “call in” and share some of the cool work being done that might be cutting-edge research, but is also of great practical import!
Here are a few discussions I really liked, with new, useful insights into:
1) That study on how true entrepreneurial experiences matters for teachers,
2) Entrepreneurial role stress (really cool)
3) Entrepreneurial passion (neuroscience again!)
4) How you can create excellent divergent thinking in less than an hour (this guy is the best..)
5) Remember my post re thirdspaces? The counter-intuitive best practices about creating a creativity ‘hot spot’ (I always like it when the ‘obvious’…. ain’t!)
If folks are interested in hearing about any of these, just holler! (see http://tinyurl.com/ysaqd4 for the whole roster)
Entrepreneurially yours,
NK
* ok, I’m now in Finland..
p.s. Chris - I plugged Pronetos!
