Idea Market Update

We’ve got a very exciting group coming so far but the Renkoo invite method was too confusing so we have moved the meeting invite over to Planyp.us, which I understand is another local startup (I’ll have to find out more about this [UPDATE: not a local startup ,see comments]). From Steve’s blog:

[update: I like Renkoo?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭ¶but I really need less of a ?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ö‚Äúclosed meetup of friends?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭù and more of a ?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ö‚Äúhere?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?¢‚Äû¬¢s a public URL?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭ¶invite yourself?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭù model. To wit, we?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?¢‚Äû¬¢ve moved the ?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ö‚Äúinvite?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭù aspect to Planyp.us. Click here to view more information: http://planyp.us/activity/10035574-boise-idea-market]

So if you did reply to Renkoo yet or not, please follow the above link and let us know if you plan on attending.

Planyp.us seems like a great service to me, though they appear to be located in Chicago and not Boise…

Yeah, Alex seems to have purposefully been misleading in an attempt to get us to use his service.

“On 5/31/07, Alex Chizhik wrote:
Hi,
Im interested. Can you send me an invite?
Thanks.

Alex ”

Then after Steve sent him an invite he followed it up with

“On 5/31/07, Alex Chizhik wrote:
Stephen,
I’m not sure I see the invite. Will it come to my email inbox?”

Immediately followed by

“On 5/31/07, Alex Chizhik wrote:
Stephen,
I think that you can get a lot of people to show up if you put a link to this activity on your blog… just a friendly suggestion :).
-Alex”

So after “The Setup” he explains that all of these things he has suggested, knowing that Renkoo won’t allow them, that he has a service that will let you do all of this and to please give it a try, and…..

“Anyway, check us out and if you have any questions let me know…mean while I’ll see what I can do about getting to your event :)”

Yeah I’m sure we’ll see him there.

Hey this is Yan, the founder of Planypus. Actually Alex currently lives in Washington D.C. but travels extensively on consulting work and was truly hoping to make this event if he was traveling through the area at the time.

BTW what’s wrong with offering people a better solution to their problems? It’s not like he forced anyone to use Planypus..if it solves the problem at hand better why should it not be used?

I never said anything was wrong with it. I’m an entrepreneur and appreciate gorilla tactics. I just wanted to shed some light on why I thought Alex was local.

Patyp.us is a great product, but I think you could have just reached out to us transparently. And your product would have talked for itself.

Yeah actually Alex told me about the TechBoise event first and he was really hesitant to introduce planypus becase you guys were already using Renkoo.

We both didn’t feel it was our job to convert people at that point where they’ve already made the event on Renkoo, but Alex found he couldn’t easily spread the word about the event to others at which point it made sense to tell you guys. Sorry if it ended up looking sneaky, that was certainly not our intention :-)

As a fellow start up I appreciate your passion. You guys have a great product and you should want to convert users of a competitive product.
