is this thing on?????????
OK, nobody is responding…. hell, hardly anyone is posting.
So, will you tell me what you want to read?
I just came back from the out-sized Academy of Management meetings in Philly - the “double helix” bridging asset model got blessed by *the* top guy in that arena. Idaho is on the right track!
Lots of interesting tidbits - I may end up a journal editor (first journal on social entrepreneurship & economic development) and book editor (on entrepreneurial economic development) - more work for no cash, LOL. But an honor! (See, I’m not just a research rock star, LOL.) The world’s top expert on intuitive management style keeps asking about Piazza di Vino - and what he’s found has profound implications for entrepreneurs and for training entrepreneurs. But those tales can wait…
Here’s one big takeaway for me: Finding out how other cities/regions get traffic (and healthy debate) on their own equivalents to TechBoise.com.
The two dominant models are:
Plan A: Throw hand grenades. Be angry, even brutal in criticisms.
Plan B: Ask people what THEY want to read -what THEY will respond to.
I like Plan B.
Example: One thing that might be a useful feature for a blog like this would be: “The Entrepreneurs’ Tool Kit” - featuring helpful tools and other resources that entrepreneurs could take away immediately. Maybe it’s a great link of informational links, maybe it’s a short explanation of Moore’s Chasm and why you should care, maybe it’s… well, YOU tell me!
Keep entrepreneuring! Norris
p.s. Go read Tac’s article at www.iqidaho.com (you can read mine too - I need all the feedback I can get, but don’t miss Tac’s, ‘k?)
….And don’t make me go Plan A! LOL
Hi Norris –
I’d LOVE to go read Tac’s article … and if the website over there was user-friendly I would.
PS. Has anyone talked w/ them about re-doing their site?
Slightly off topic, but since you reference iqidaho, it would be very nice if they started an RSS feed for the content there. I couldn’t find one.
I have interest in hearing about and understanding what one has to do to get a web commerce store up and running, and what Idaho laws/regulations apply, etc.
Forgive me, Norris…I’d love to participate more but I am absolutely swamped with work. 24/7, literally…I could forego sleep and still have more than enough work to fill my time. The real issue is that I’m a service provider to the “real” (first order) producers, meaning that they are off the charts with work as well…it’s this terrible economy! Damn those lousy, selfish supply-sider lassaiz-faire tax-slashing conservatives! Ha!
Leo - I understand!
(I was afraid you’d want “Plan A”, LOL.)
Did I miss an invitation or a posting? Where are the meetings? These posts are nice, but it’s hard to enjoy a cup of coffee or a beer with someone through a computer screen.
Yup, time to resume mass consumption of caffeinated (& other) beverages. Will pick some after-work times, maybe look for “special guest stars” too…
Hey, maybe this time more than 3-4 people will show up!
I’d like to see a main post about what happened at the STAC meet….I read the newspaper’s version….sounded like a real yawn-fest. It really surprises me, given what’s happened to Idaho’s tech-economy in the last 2 years, that many of those folks still give a shit.
gosh, I’m just discovering this site. I had never heard of it! cool!
hi, norris.
