Julie Howard Leaves the Dept of Science and Tech
Most of you who read this are probably very familiar with Julie Howard and the role she fills in the Department of Science and Technology within the Department of Commerce. Julie is one of the more outspoken and evangelical employees in Sci&Tech. She is also the driving force behind the Idaho Statesman’s Starting Up column that runs every Friday.
While many of you may be lamenting the loss of Julie, don’t worry, she’s not going far. Julie is moving to the newly formed marketing group for the Department of Commerce.
The Department of Commerce has launched a new marketing division headed by Bibiana Nertney. The intent is to create a centralized clearinghouse of information for the public and for Commerce. Our mission is so broad – from tourism to economic development to science & technology to community development – that people who can speak to all of this (and provide internal support) was becoming increasingly necessary.
I took the opportunity to move over because I enjoy the marketing aspects of my job the most. I love to write and tell people what’s going on. I also have some ideas for how this marketing division can work. My exalted title is “marketing specialist.”
I’m sure that Julie will continue her tech evangelism from her new position. We need more evangelists inside those gov’t corridors. Good luck Julie.
Is nobody gonna congratulate Julie?
Cheers!
