Let’s Talk Tech

There’s been a lot of conversation here about the power of networking. Norris is setting up some after hours get meet ups next month and I wanted to propose a brown bag lunch next week. May 24th, I don’t know where yet. In true entrepreneurial spirit we’ll figure out a location later :) I want to get a rough head count so leave me a comment if you’re interested.

The other issue that I wanted to address was Leo’s burning question: What IS tech?

In comments to Krissa’s last post Leo linked to many a definition. Personally I think ‘tech’ is becoming a self defining term. I know that Chris Taylor at Fishers considers their company ‘tech’. J with CheckaBiz considers himself ‘tech’ even though he didn’t build his site (he did design it though).

What in our lives/jobs isn’t ‘tech’? Are Dot Coms and technology resellers just as much a ‘tech’ company as a Micron or HP? According to our government call center jobs would qualify as ‘tech’. I think it is getting harder to define what a tech job is. If you use technology and you think of yourself as ‘tech’, I don’t think anyone is going to disagree with you and if they do, who cares.

The bottom line for me is, if you think your ‘tech’ I want you in this conversation.

Tac - we are coffee-ing *this* week! Why wait? (Besides, I’m thirsty… LOL)

D-Taylor (8th/Bannock), 5-ish on Wed & Fri - we’ll figure it out from there. Meanwhile, I get some sense that lunch may be better for folks.

See y’all soon?

My bad Norris. For some reason I thought you were talking about next month. I’d still like to do both. I’ll be there tomorrow as well as hosting the lunch. I’m working on a few locations right now.

I have presumptuously invited my friend/IT attorney Steve Nipper, Partner at Dykas, Shaver & Nipper, who is keen on tech/high tech. If we both show up, it will signal the complete disintegration of your standards…but he is younger and better looking than I am…

Oh great Nipper! Just what we need a tech savvy blogging lawyer ;) That’s great Leo, Steve and I have been looking for an excuse to get together. Please feel free to invite anyone who might be interested. I’m chasing down some possible locations for our meeting and should have something finalized later today.
