Portland and Boise: The “other” North West Tech Communities

Pronetos’ own Chris Blanchard posted a guest blog over at the Silicon Florist. It’s a great blog that focuses on technology startups in the Portland area (someone should do that for Boise).

Chris does a great job of ppointing out many of the similarities between Boise and Portland start ups.

The editor even made an interesting comment:

The biggest surprise for me? How closely connected the two communities are. And how they, in Boise, are struggling with some of the exact same issues we, here in the Silicon Forest, find ourselves struggling.

In case you missed it check out Chris’ post and subscribe to the Silicon Florist. Maybe we’ll get organized enough to do some joint meet ups or something.

As someone who grew up in Twin and spent a short time living in Boise, I was more than happy to give Boise a little of the attention it so well deserves.

I think a meetup or two would be well in order.

Do I hear Farewell Bend as an option? The rest stop at the top of the Blues? There are so many fine establishments along the I-84 corridor, it may be difficult to choose. ;)

@turoczy We were thinking more along the lines of a meetup in Bend at the Deschutes Brewery! ; )

I think it’s a great idea. I think Bend would work well, not too far from Boise or Portland.
