Rails in Portland
One of the things you notice in PDX is that everyone rides MAX. Yes, the public transportation system is well utilized. But I am here to talk about another kind of Rails - Ruby on Rails.
Last presentation of the day is deploying RoR on Ubuntu.
This is a really technical presentation geared towards developers. I am having to remember the OSI/RM. Actually I don’t remember it at all.
Brad Taylor from Rails Machine is going through the Rails Stack deployment - Apache - Mongrel - MySQL - Ruby, etc. I probably messed this up.
Going over the “subversion” server for version control.
Also, the “Capistrano” tool has some nice features that store previous versions of your applications. This is handy in the instance that you upload a big that you didn’t know about.
Some other tips:
*Don’t test on production server
*Capistrano can deploy to production server or to a test server
So . . . short presentation. Either way, there are a lot of people attending this presentation so the “Rubuntu” market must be growing.
